The things of autumn;
A sprightly walk through rainbow hues,
A quiet spot to ponder and muse
The psychedelic rainment nature wears
When she dresses by harvest moonlight.
The things of autumn;
Once balmy breezes turned to chill,
The dew is a diamond on my sill,
And the turning of leaves quickens
As the days march their shorter steps to night.
The things of autumn;
Crowds of fans with football cheers,
Apple cider and frosty ears,
The falling leaves as they flutter
their earth-bound missions of flight.
The things of autumn;
Ears of corn, squash, and pumpkins galore,
Watch the hay waving neath the mower
Like the ever waning days
As yesterday falls out of sight.
